Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, IT major Cognizant said it will give 25 percent of basic pay for April to employees who are at associate level and below in India and the Philippines.
In an email note to employees, CEO Brian Humphries wrote , “(This is) In recognition of the extraordinary continuity-of-service efforts of our associates in India and the Philippines. This will be processed with your April paycheck, and we will be reviewing this approach monthly.”
The move is expected to benefit more than 1,30,000 employees in India and the global employee count is nearly 300,000.
To enable Work From Home (WFH) for the staffs, the company had provided laptops and encrypting desktops, which can be moved to people’s houses.
“So we quickly sought to enable work from home to ensure employee health and safety, and to maintain continuity of service for our clients, while absolutely safeguarding their data and protecting access to their systems,” Humphries added.
